Protecting Immigrants’ Rights Around the World

We continued to focus our pro bono efforts on immigration in 2019, spending 20,026 hours helping unaccompanied children, families, and others escape horrific conditions in their home countries. We partnered with Kids In Need of Defense (KIND), the leading nonprofit organization representing unaccompanied minors in U.S. immigration courts, and GlaxoSmithKline’s in-house counsel to advocate for children during the family separation crisis at the border. As a result of our collaboration, GSK honored us with two of the four outside counsel awards at their GSK Litigation Summit: Public Service Law Firm of the Year and Partner Law Firm of the Year. We continue to represent a number of children and families as the fight for asylum continues to be an uphill battle, with asylum now virtually unattainable without professional legal representation.

“Paul Hastings is a superlative pro bono partner to KIND, and has been since KIND’s founding 10 years ago. The firm’s commitment to the vision that no child should face immigration court alone is extraordinary, exemplified by their attorneys having represented over 130 children. Moreover, in the summer of 2018, Paul Hastings took several cases during the family separation crisis, providing these traumatized children with critical representation so they could be reunited with their families.”
